The BJP seems to have made big gains and the AAP seems to have lost ground in Delhi. According to CNN-IBN-Lokniti-CSDS national election tracker and seat projections by Chennai Mathematical Institute Director Rajeeva Karandikar, the BJP is expected to win 3-4 seats, AAP 2-3 and Congress 0-1. The BJP is likely to get 40 per cent of the votes and the AAP just 29 per cent of the votes. The Congress is likely to get 22 per cent of the votes. The BSP is expected to get 4 per cent and the others 5 per cent votes. When it comes to Assembly elections, the AAP is still ahead with 42 per cent backing and the BJP is close behind with 36 per cent support. The situation of the Congress is worsening and it is expected to get just 16 per cent votes in the assembly elections. The BSP and others are expected to get just 3 per cent each in the assembly elections, if they are held today. In an alarming development for the AAP, the young support base of the party seems to have moved towards the BJP in Lok Sabha elections. In Lok Sabha preference, the Muslims have been split between the AAP and the Congress. The BJP has overtaken the AAP when it comes to Dalit votes. 37 per cent of the Muslims favour AAP, 56 per cent favour the Congress and just 7 per cent favour the BJP. 33 per cent Dalits favour the BJP, 28 per cent favour the AAP and just 19 per cent favour the Congress. In the Lok Sabha preference there is a clear gender divide in Delhi as the men prefer BJP much more than the women and women prefer the Congress and the AAP more than men. A total of 46 per cent men prefer the BJP, 26 per cent prefer the AAP and 19 per cent prefer the Congress. 34 per cent women prefer the BJP, 32 per cent prefer the AAP and 25 per cent vote for the Congress. Most people in Delhi of the opinion that AAP did the wrong thing by resigning from government in just 49 days. 47 per cent respondents feel that quitting the government was a wrong decision and 34 per cent respondents say it was the right decision. However, seven out of 10 respondents say they were satisfied with AAP government's performance when they were in government in Delhi. The BJP's PM nominee Narendra Modi's high popularity is still intact and head leads Arvind Kejriwal of the AAP. 38 per cent prefer Modi for the PM post. 20 per cent opt for Kejriwal and 10 per cent for Rahul Gandhi. 24 per cent have no opinion. However, when Delhi's voters were asked to choose between Arvind Kejriwal and Narendra Modi for the PM post, Kejriwal finished ahead as he received the backing of most Congress voters. In a direct contest, Kejriwal got 43 per cent votes and Modi has got 39 per cent votes. 55 per cent of the Congress voters back Kejriwal for the PM post in a direct contest with Modi. Interestingly, 25 per cent feel that the AAP should support the BJP led NDA government in the event of a hung Parliament. 15 per cent feel that it should go with the UPA.
